The Aramaki Kawazoe Story

Our story begins with Dr. Henry Aramaki, a talented, dedicated dentist and artist who practiced dentistry at his 9th street office in San Pedro in the 1940’s-50’s. Unfortunately, he passed away at the young age of 42 and his career was cut short. His daughter, Dr. Ruth Aramaki, was inspired to carry forward his legacy by pursuing a career in dentistry. While attending dental school at University of California, San Francisco, she met her husband Dr. Neal Kawazoe. Together, they took over the practice of Dr. Gordon Miner, a friend and colleague of Dr. Henry, and began to make it their own.

Over the years, Dr. Aramaki and Dr. Kawazoe have built numerous lasting relationships with their patients and the practice has become a warm dental home for many in the Southbay community.

Continuing in the family tradition, their daughter, Dr. Reina Kawazoe, proudly represents the third generation of dentists in her family. Carrying forward Dr. Henry Aramaki’s legacy, we strive to create an environment where every patient feels welcome, valued, and supported.

Meet Dr. Reina

Dr. Reina Kawazoe was born and raised in the Southbay where she spent much of her time swimming competitively and doing art. She attended University of California, San Diego for her undergraduate studies, and there she decided to merge her love for art and science with a deep desire to help others by pursuing a career in dentistry.

Dr. Reina received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from the University of California, San Francisco and went on to complete a one-year general practice residency at Native American Health Center in Oakland, CA. Upon graduation, she served as a part-time faculty member at University of California, Los Angeles for 4 years in the Department of Restorative Dentistry while joining her family’s practice in San Pedro.
